RESIDENTIAL FRP

Since 1978, TechFiberglass, Inc. has been designing, manufacturing and installing water, wastewater, solar and well systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications in and around Tucson, Arizona.

Fiberglass is an ideal material for these applications and has quite an advantage over metal or polyethylene vessels. Fiberglass has a greater strength-to-weight ratio than steel or poly. Fiberglass will not rust or split like metal and poly. Unlike poly, once fiberglass "kicks" (the chemical reaction between the resin and the catalyst) it is cured forever. Poly, however, continues its chemical reaction indefinitely which is why you can taste the plastic in water stored in poly and one reason that is doesn't last very long--it is continually breaking down.

Our above ground tanks and vessels are coated in a two-part epoxy "paint" which is an impervious layer over the fiberglass and prevents UV damage to the vessel. In addition, our warranty cannot be beat--our above ground tanks for residential applications carry a lifetime warranty!

While we have a full line of moulds and mandrels available for standard tanks, vessels, racecar parts and creative items, we also pride ourselves on being able to build anything out of fiberglass. Our expert mould and pattern makers are available to create or recreate virtually anything out of fiberglass or other composites such as carbon fiber.

Cornell 480 - Passive Solar Water Heater

Two sheets of solar safety glass give the Cornell 480 a double greenhouse effect by trapping solar heat. The glass emits short wave solar energy but traps long wave heat energy.

The Cornell 480 works on water pressure and sunshine alone. It uses no electricity, no pumps, no heat exchangers and no sensors. This one piece construction design with no moving parts is the key to making the Cornell 480 a simple, trouble-free green product that will last.

TechFiberglass manufactures the Cornell 480 passive solar water heater. Constructed of an FRP shell with over 4 inches of insulation and no moving parts, the Cornell 480 is ideal as a supplement to your gas or electric water heater and is offered complete or in kit form.

Aerolope a.k.a. Aergo Human Powered Vehicle

In the 1980's TechFiberglass designed and built a human powered vehicle known as the Aerolope. Consisting of recumbent bicycles and tricycles and a lightweight protective fairing with the option of an electric motor-assist, the Aerolope was a bit ahead of its time. Production slowed in the mid 1990's. In 2007, Rob Gentry of Recumbent Bike Riders (State College, PA) contacted TechFiberglass and production of his design, the Aergo, began. Contact Mr. Gentry at www.rbr.info for more information on human powered vehicles.
